Koppert Meets American Secretary of Agriculture

René Ruiter, director Horti of Koppert Biological Systems, spoke with the United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue during yesterday’s visit to host company Koppert Cress. Perdue is in the European Union to get to know the European Commission.

Perdue and Pete Hoekstra, U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, visited Koppert Cress in Monster, Netherlands. Four companies, including Koppert Biological Systems, were given the opportunity to present their organization during this visit.

René Ruiter gave a brief explanation in the experimental garden about the application of natural solutions for controlling pests and diseases in agricultural and horticultural crops.

René Ruiter: "The conversation with the Secretary of Agriculture is of great value to us and an important step towards cooperation with the local government with the aim of easing the authorization processes of sustainable products on the American market." The message of René Ruiter for the Secretary of Agriculture was clear: "We need your help with registration processes, so that new and sustainable alternatives become more accessible to growers and farmers. Industry and regulations must work together to ensure the availability of new and safe technology." The United States is one of Koppert's largest markets, which makes streamlining laws and regulations to make Koppert products available to growers even more important.
