Looking Back at NECANN Boston 2025

We’re back from our recent trip to New England for the NECANN Boston 2025 cannabis show. It was good to get out of the greenhouses and circulate among the cannabis growers. NECANN is a hub of activity for New England growers of many ilks: home growers, small businesses, and large volume commercial enterprises.

Koppert team members staffing the booth at the event included Jeremy Webber (taking the photo), Kristen Fowler, Lane Holland, Chris Anzell, and Phil Jerry. Jarrod Jonsrud was on hand representing Natural Enemies, our direct-to-consumer branch for home growers and small businesses.

In case you missed it—we handed out some premium swag bags: handsome, sturdy canvas totes full of information and product samples, as in cards, sachets, and bottles. Other useful items were free for the taking as well, including durable scouting journals, quality pens for out in the field, and lanyards to hold bug-identifying loupes.

Our slogans—Pesticide Reduction For Cannabis Production and BioControls for Large Scale Commercial Grows—brought in a lot of traffic. Judging by the amount of visitors we received, including many experts and professionals in the industry, these are topics that weigh heavily on growers’ minds and that is inspiring. Here are some of the questions they were asking:

When do you deliver?

Koppert ships three times a week for deliveries on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Product is shipped through UPS Next Day Air to ensure safe and timely delivery. Biologicals are perishable so we deliver via the fastest route to maintain the freshest product with the best viability—viable upon arrival. Not getting the product when requested is unacceptable. Delivery delays upset IPM programs so Koppert invests significant time, staff, and money into maintaining a tight, efficient logistics system to deliver those beneficials.

How do you maintain consistency?

Koppert measures its shipping times to ensure products arrive within the specified window. Mortality is a key issue here, and Koppert guards against unnecessary erosion in the product viability by maintaining a firm grip on the cold chain management of the entire logistics chain from facility to farm. A predictable schedule with reliable deliveries produces the most consistent and repeatable results from any IPM program. As always, Koppert consultants are available to assist in the planning and schedule of biological agents.

Will you visit sites in person?

Site visits are Koppert’s speciality. Emails and phone support are often not enough. Clients appreciate a consultant who walks the fields with them, listens to the problems from the staff, and looks the grower in the eye when discussing possible solutions. Koppert consultants show up because it’s important. Pest control is Job One in their book of business, so site visits are actively encouraged.

Mechanical traps garnered a lot of interest.

This technique is seen as an efficient, low-cost way to monitor and manage flying pests. Koppert’s Horiver cards come in a variety of sizes and shapes for different pests, and we had a number of samples available to show growers how each one works. We also discussed a number of approaches in the automation of counting those trapped insects.

Lots of questions involved sachet styles and distribution.

A number of growers asked about the unique mylar sachet Koppert uses. It is specifically designed to extend the lifespan of the predatory insects by providing them a good home with food and humidity. In many cases, the sachet is designed to allow one to several cycles of eggs to hatch, extending the viability of the packet. It’s a subtle detail but an important one to anyone looking to extend the lifespan or improve the viability of their program—the mylar sachets outperform the paper teabag styles.

We were happy to support all our visitors in their quest for ever cleaner crops and a healthy environment, keeping the focus on pesticide reduction by using key biological control agents like Swirski-Mite and Isarid™ to fight insect pests and fungi that threaten cannabis plants.

Coming Up Next

Now it’s back to work across the country. Luckily our efficient team of customer service advisors, including Roxanne, Rebecca, Lola, Marcy, and Patricia, kept pace with all the website orders while we were away so we didn’t return to a pile of paperwork.
