As interest in how food is grown continues to rise, WINDSET FARMS® has partnered with Koppert Biological Systems to launch an engaging digital campaign that takes consumers behind the scenes of greenhouse production. Together, they are educating viewers on sustainable greenhouse growing practices, with a focus on the beneficial insects utilized in Windset’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
By featuring the expertise of Windset’s IPM Lead, Tammy, alongside Koppert’s Technical Consultant, Jordan, the campaign brought complex biological systems to life in educational and approachable videos shared on social media platforms.
“Our customers want to know more than ever about sustainability and how their food is grown,” said Randi Church, Marketing Manager at Windset Farms. “Our partnership with Koppert shares how science and nature work together to produce delicious, high-quality greenhouse vegetables”
The series aired in late August, currently reaching over 25,000 viewers and generating more than 600 social media engagements, reflecting the eagerness of our communities to learn more. Included was an introduction episode, followed by three episodes, each focusing on a beneficial insect used in Windset’s IPM program:
- The Role of Bumblebees in Tomato Crops: Showcasing Bombus impatiens, bumblebees are used to pollinate tomato flowers, ensuring consistent fruit development.
- The Role of Predatory Mites in Pepper Crops: Introducing Phytoseiulus persimilis, a beneficial mite employed to control spider mite populations, and Koppert’s innovative IPM Scouting Software that shares insight with Windset’s IPM team.
- The Role of Parasitic Wasps in Cucumber Crops: Highlighting Aphidius colemani, a parasitic wasp with a unique and effective way of controlling aphids.
By blending storytelling with scientific insight, Windset Farms and Koppert invite consumers into the world of sustainable greenhouse growing while demonstrating how natural solutions protect crops and reduce environmental impact.
