Three of Koppert’s expert technical advisors will be on hand at this year’s Farwest trade show in Portland, Oregon. Farwest is one of the largest horticultural trade shows on the West Coast, produced by the Oregon Association of Nurseries (OAN). The event takes place August 26–28, 2026 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR 97232.
Stop by Booth #11056 and say hello to Chris Anzell and Phil Gerry. They’ll be ready to answer your questions about biological pest control. Koppert’s technical advisors are seasoned experts in controlling pests without the use of chemical pesticides. Growers themselves, they devise biosolutions based on a client’s unique situation, and can also recommend biocontrols that work in tandem with pesticides if the need arises.
Chris and Phil have decades of experience engaging directly with growers and crops. On-site visits allow them to identify harmful insects and pathogens so they can devise integrated pest management (IPM) solutions that work, and they know what works. They’ve guided countless growers to overall success in maintaining clean, pest free crops across a range of plants including trees, shrubs, and perennials.
For example, foliage riddled with shotgun holes is the signature damage of the redheaded flea beetle (RHFB). When it strikes high-value crops like hydrangea, cornus, itea, or weigela the retail value is ruined. Koppert has a biosolution: target the unarmored larvae in the soil with predatory nematodes (Capsanem) and beneficial fungi (Isarid™). Timing of applications is important to nip RHFB in the bud, so ask one of our experts for the details.
Nursery crops with damage on the leaf margins can indicate the presence of the adult black vine weevil. Koppert has a solution for this pest as well: get into the soil and uproot the vulnerable grubs before they can damage the roots. Predatory nematodes Larvanem (for summer and fall) and Entonem (for fall and winter) are up to the task. They kill beetle grubs within a few days. This is another juicy topic for the friendly bug busters in booth #11056.
