In early spring, germination, rooting, and transplanting mean we’re handling young plants at their most fragile point. It’s important to fortify the growing media in order to protect them with soil amendments such as Bacilirid™, a biological fungicide and Isarid™, a mycoinsecticide. As wettable powders, the two mix together well in the same tank.
Bacilirid™ contains beneficial foliar and soil-dwelling bacteria to prevent and control soil borne diseases like Botrytis, Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, and Pythium, as well as organisms that cause powdery mildew and anthracnose. By colonizing on developing roots and shoots, Bacilirid™ suppresses disease organisms through competition. Protection extends throughout the growing season and can provide more uniform stands and greater yields. It is also tank compatible with conventional products.
Isarid™ is a naturally occurring insecticidal fungus that’s safe to use around most beneficial insects. It targets a wide range of ornamental pests, including whitefly, thrips, fungus gnats, mealybugs and aphids.
When spores contact a pest, they attach and begin to grow almost immediately. Once the cuticle is penetrated, the Isarid™ microbe disrupts the host’s internal organs and initiates tissue necrosis, leading to inactivity and death. Isarid™ integrates whenever pesticide use is necessary.
Fungicides and insecticides can be important components of a grower’s BioSolution, individualized for each crop by Koppert’s team of experts. Timing and application methods for optimal efficacy vary, so contact your Koppert Technical Advisor for the specifics.
